Jolene Burger and Jennifer
Whitmore

Two young artists are Jolene Burger and Jennifer Whitmore.
Jolene and Jennifer are best friends who found a common passion
for jewelry. The specifically use seed beads, precious stones,
(amethyst, jade, and turquoise), wooden beads, and shells that
they have personally collected from beaches in Florida and
Mexico. The style of their jewelry can be described as
naturalistic and earthy; inspired by tropical colors. Each piece
is unique and handmade with love.
Mark Malak

``I've been painting and drawing for most of my life. I have
always had a love for nature and the outdoors, so a lot of my
work shows wildlife, mountains, trees, etc. Several years ago, I
got into photography. Now I pretty much split my time between
the two. My favorite places to photograph are Ireland, Maine,
Wyoming and rural Pennsylvania.
A lot of my inspiration comes from a rustic cabin my family owns
in northwestern Pennsylvania, where, as a child, I would draw
trees, birds, deer, sunsets or anything else that caught my
eyes. I currently live in eastern Pennsylvania, where I have
paintings and photographs displayed in several restaurants and
other businesses in the area. I do my work out of my home, which
is a barn-style home. That's where I came up with the name of my
art business, The Barnwood Gallery. My gallery is currently in
my home in Moscow, PA, and is not yet open to public viewing.
If I could say one thing about my paintings and photographs, it
would be that I hope everyone looking at my work gets the same
enjoyment out of viewing it as I get out of creating it.
Painting what I'm passionate about and photographing the nature
around us is what truly relaxes me.
ELLEN SILBERLICHT:

Ellen Silberlicht knew she wanted to be a Potter early in
life....now she is not only a certified potter, (she teaches
pottery at Honesdale High School) and a degreed potter, (she
attended Rochester Institute of Technology and received her BFA
in Ceramic and Ceramic Sculpture), she is also a licensed
Potter, (she married David Potter). When you ask her why she
kept her maiden name her answer is,”How can Mrs. Potter teach
Pottery? I think that would be a little too quirky!”
Ellen Silberlicht caught a rare “disease” at an early age. That
need to create ran rampant through her bloodstream. Her life’s
experiences allowed her to explore a variety of processes and
materials, each helping to expand her vocabulary in the arts.
Her experiences in clay are broad and she is comfortable in the
many different techniques as well as both sculptural and
functional forms. Ellen will be showing her functional pottery
at the Roots & Rhythms Music and Art festival. Functional
pottery speaks to community. When you sit down to eat you are
sharing much more than food at that table. You are making
connections with family and friends, something we don’t do
enough of. I would hope my pottery enhances that experience and
keeps us connected to what makes us human.
James Edgar Morgan Master of Light & Lens

Photographic artist, james Edgar Morgan has been a professional
since the mid 1950’s and continues his quest for the latent
image on film with his Hasselblad cameras as he records for all
times, “Images of the Past”. He is known for not only capturing
the image, but completing all the processes in his own darkroom,
and lab, and finishing with a matte and fine quality wood frame
in his woodshop at From a Distance Farm. He is presently
including his inspirational or motivational writings in his
work. Portraiture has been his primary livelihood and is known
for his character studies. However, his love of history has
driven him to the depths of our country winding into the back
roads to find the covered bridges throughout our nation
photographing over 750 of the 1200 in the U.S. Mr. Morgan
doesn’t just snap the shutter, he creates the image. James Edgar
Morgan holds the distinguished titles of Master of Light & Lens
and Master Photographer. He served in the United States Marines
as Forward Recon in the Special Forces and personal photographer
to General Lucky.

Scranton Times and on many weekends he carried film holders and
flash bulbs at weddings for professional photographer Robert F.
“Bob” Jennings. He took many of the candid photos for the
Honesdale Catholic High School yearbook during his high school
days. Mr. Tresslar learned the fundamentals of photography from
Bob Jennings and by reading every technical and artistic book on
photography he could find. “Bob gave me the opportunity to
observe his techniques and to take photographs, develop film,
make proofs, and dry prints.”
“I enjoy creating photo stories that capture the simple everyday
life of people. Also, through travel you see the beauty and
diversity of people. You get to capture the unique beauty of the
landscape, architecture, and everyday activities. Photography to
me is a fun mix of tools, technique and art.”
Mr. Tresslar graduated from Honesdale Catholic High School. He
enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in 1966. SSgt. Tresslar served
as a photo reconnaissance processing specialist for the 8th Air

Beverly is an accomplished artist/teacher having acquired her
Masters degree in printing making and painting. She is
particularly interested in history and especially that of
woman’s apparel; aprons to be specific. Aprons have been a part
of Beverly’s life wearing one as a teacher, a restaurant owner,
and having the memories of her mother and grandmother in their
various aprons which were chosen for special occasions. These
aprons show her creativity and her personality; being one of a
kind of her own design, using three-four different fabrics and
each one lined. You will envision past times when aprons were
customary attire for that special someone in your life and want
to have one for yourself or a gift for those special loved ones.
Additionally, Beverly is presently working on colored pencil
drawings of nature through her own interpretation.
Tim Weaver -

Through loose and informal handling of shapes, bold use of color
and a love of spontaneity, Tim Weaver translates literal images
into unique and personal watercolors. Painting both in the
studio and on location, Weaver presents the viewer with a
distillation of various subjects ranging from dilapidated farm
houses to bustling city streets.
"An artist has the unique opportunity to teach others to see
beauty in things that might otherwise go unnoticed. The most
common of subjects can be made beautiful by means of the
artist’s personal translation, distillation and elaboration."
